Oktober - Dezember 2006
After a beautifull fall in Slovenia, I, Tom, return to SILVER BLUE at the end of November. I've planned to sail from Singaporeto Langkawi, through the Straights of Malakka. But first I need to wash all the dirt froma highly industrialized city off the ships deck, and after a few days the number of thunder storms has decreased enough for me to say “good bye” Singapore.

With the first light I leave the OneDegreeFivteenMarina, first to the quarantaine anchorage to sign out and then off into the famous Staights of Malakka. To manage those single-handedly - to sail those 80 nautical miles in daylight and make it to an acceptable anchoring spot - that requires precise timing. After all, during the night entire fishing-boat armadas head towards me, most of them showing quite excentric lights. Buth then again, even during the day hundreds of fishermen occupy themselves with pulling the last bit out of the ocean, in all kinds of ways.

Halfway to Langkawi I allow myself a few days rest at the Admiral Marina. There's still lots of space available here, since Malaysia built lots of nice facilities for tourists, with many of those staying empty quite often.

In the nearby Port Dickson one finally gets the feeling of being in Asia again - after being in sterile Singapore. You can get almost everything here, and of good quality. And, the people living in this islamic state are very open and friendly. |
During the entire cruise through the Staights of Malakka there was little wind but strong currents. Both diesel engines worked nicely.
And the only ship chasing me was "shooting" with photo cameras. |

Thats how SILVER BLUE and I finally, but safely, reach beautiful Langkawi, an impressive island archipelago with 99 little islands and lots of great anchoring spots. |
Exploring the archipelago will have to wait until 2007 since I'm flying back to Nela and Antoine in Slovenia for Christmas.
During that time SILVER BLUE will stay in the first-class Rebak Marina.
Since you really get your moneys worth here in Asia SILVER BLUE will also spend 2007 here, and is available for sailing and scuba diving cruises in Malaysia/Thailand and Myanmar, from January to April and Novermber to December 2007.
Depending on availability and the duration of your stay from € 100,- per day/per person, including food and water aboard, linnen, towels, diesel, petrol, scuba tanks and weights, as well as the cleaning on departure.

We wish all of you a Happy New Year,
Tom and Nela & Antoine
