With our destination, Samoa, within reach we get run into some
problems on Monday. We still had a light northeasterly wind in
the morning, and then, without any warning it changed to a northwesterly
wind doing 35 knots within 5 minutes. And it was there to stay
for the next 16 hours. During that time the sea also started getting
rough. As things started to get too uncomfortable we changed our
course and sailed in front of wind and waves, right into the night.
That cost us an extra day in reaching our destination, Apia on
Samoa. |

But, finally, we safely reach Apia's harbor. This one mainly specializes
on container transfer though, so we go alongside a freighter to get
the formalities done.
In the end Samoa was worth coming to: the people are very friendly and
open - just as they live, in open houses. Everything is very clean and
neat and finally there's a market again, with lots to choose from.

Samoa, a German colony in 1900, has lots more to offer. Not only lots
of churches of different confessions, but also magnificent beaches and
even a beautiful highland with impressive waterfalls.

More from beautiful Samoa, soon, here ...
until then, take care!
