BULA ! After quite some time we're back! There's no Internet
in the Yasawa group, where we've been traveling, yet.
But they do have most enchanting anchoring spots - but we'll get
to that. After all, in the beginning of July we were still sailing
along Viti Levus southern coast.
First we traveled from Beqa to Cuvu Harbor where we sailed into
the beautiful bay in the days last light, past boiling reefs,
after quite a ride in front of winds going up to 45 knots.
And here, we first have to relax a little. Shangria-Las great
Hotel "The Fijian" convinces us to stay for two days.
We can use all their facilities, the pool, deck chairs and large,
fluffy towels. They have showers, washing machines and lots more.
On the first day we pay a small fee for all that, but on the second
day, after some praise, we get everything for free.

Everything but a ride on a banana - a water sports toy that
is dragged behind a big motorboat. Nela, Katarina, Miha and Martin
treat their selves to this fun and the skipper becomes the nanny.
|
After that we cross over to the West coast. Our first stop
is Fijis best known meeting place for sailors - the Musket Cove
Yacht Club. All of us are now members for life. And, how nice,
we meet the catamaran "Freebird" again. We immediately
have a barbecue for Dave who's sailing around with his grandson
for a few weeks.

 |
After a short stopover in the largest city on the western coast, the
sugar city Lautoka, (we had to get some formalities out of the way again),
we reached our final destination, the Navadra Islands. Three islands
are joined together by beaches and the crystal clear water is home to
a magnificent underwater world.
Under now easy winds we enjoy the cruise to the Island world
of Yasawas.

SILVER BLUE has been made childproof by closing the sides
with nets. That's not only important for Masa and Martin, but
even Antoine with his 11 months moves around deck rather quickly.
|
Even at the dinner table there's a lot of activity - with 3 kids! And
the fishermen Miha and Martin make sure there's always plenty to serve
at that table.
The further north we go in the Yasawa-Group, the more beautiful the
anchoring spots, although each place has its own appeal, but the variety
is really impressive.
The "Blue Lagoon" is one of the most beautiful places. We
didn't only need the dingy for its discovery, but also the old canoe,
which got to prove that it could still handle a whole family.
 |
|
Then again, our anchoring spot at the island Sawa-i-Lau is
at least as beautiful, and has an interesting grotto as well.
The minute we arrive fishermen offer us two great crayfish for
about 7 Euros. We happily accept and make some fantastic lobster-pasta
a la "Chez Börnie". Until they end up in the pot
captain Antoine professionally provides them with saltwater. |
Our beautiful surroundings are also just the right place for
another culinary highlight:
On Sunday a big fish that Miha caught gets cooked with potatoes,
green papayas and bananas. Everything gets wrapped in aluminum
foil and stuck into our self-made ground oven. After 1 1/2 hours
in the "Lovo" the food has acquired a delicious smoky
taste and is super soft. We enjoy it with a sundown. |

The perfect ending to 3 wonderful weeks with our friends
Miha, Katarina, Martin and Masa, who returned to beautiful Slovenia.
Soon there'll be more news from us.
Until then ... take care!
