18.10. - 31.10. 2004

After the cold front passed, on Tuesday, we take off from the Tuamotus.
The weather has become visibly better and with 5 knots we're on a relaxed cruise towards Tahiti.

We sight Tahiti on Thursday and after asking Papeete Port Control for clearance to pass the airports runway (that's standard procedure - and we do want to keep our mast) we drop anchor in the afternoon, in the marina Taina.

You can also drop anchor in the center of Papeete and even though that exposes you to the huge amounts of traffic that pass by day and night, but it still is an interesting mooring place right by the shopping- and entertainment-center of French-Polynesians capital.

But even the mythos Tahiti is scarred - so far 18 yachts lying at this interesting place have had uninvited visitors and lost a few things during those visits. Understandably the mooring places are now rather deserted.
After we'd done everything we'd planned to and had a great party with friends we met again here, we moove on to the neighbouring island, into the famous Cook's Bay.

The weather isn't that great, but it is a beautiful place. From here on we'll continue towards Raiatea where SILVER BLUE will come out of the water once again and we'll visit our home country Slovenia. Antoine is really looking forward to that - he's already trying on his traveling clothes.

Until next week and our last logbook for this year ... take care!
