CW 45 2004

01.11.- 07.11. 2004

We leave Moorea on Monday around noon. The weather still isn't great - its raining cats and dogs and there's only little wind blowing out of all directions. But, just before sundown, a magnificent, 1.30m long Mahi-Mahi bites.

On Tuesday we reach Raiatea and, after a strong storm with zero visibility and 40 knots wind, we enter the lagoon of Raiatea and Tahaa.
We moor at the wharf "Raiatea Marine"

and after a quick radio exchange the lift ashore is arranged for tomorrow.

The lift-out goes really well. Raiatea Marines' crew is very experienced and careful and soon SILVER BLUE is - once again - on dry land.

We rent a small house nearby, in a former cocoanut plantation, for 3 days, so we don't have to expose 21/2-month-old Antoine to the paint and plastic vapors of a working wharf.   Apart from us, plenty of cocoanut-crabs live here, and, if they can't reach their nest in the ground fast enough they turn out rather aggressive.

Well dear friends of SILVER BLUE, that was it for this year. We're going on "home leave", but if you're as curious about next years adventure as Antoine is, (Bild Raiatea 1 -017) we'd be very happy to see you here again in January. Until then you can reach us via email: silverblue2000@yahoo.de

Even if it's a little early … we'd like to wish you a Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
