This logbook is a little shorter than usual. Firstly, because I'm writing it during the crossing to Tortuga and am busy sailing, and secondly nothing much has happened.
On Sunday afternoon there's a Happy Hour at the hollandaise restaurant and that's when lots of sailors meet here. The reason: a beer costs 300 Bolivar; that is 20 cents. But the food is also quite nice and the day ends rather relaxed.
And then, on Monday, there's a lot to do. First, I take the laundry. I found a washing place where one load, including drying and folding only costs 2 Euro. Then, I continue to the hairdresser; the "mop" has to go. On my way there it starts to rain, with such force that the main roads of Porlamar turn into furious rivers. Crossing the street on foot is impossible and since I wanted to go shopping anyway I call a taxi.
Originally I'd planned my shopping tour for the end of the week, but at the hairdresser large demonstrations in Caracas were shown on TV and it's quite possible that everything will come to a standstill for a few days again.
I'm returning with 5 full shopping carts, pick up the laundry on my way, and by the time everything is packed away it's already 10pm.

On Tuesday the wind-generator is finally set up. Believe it or not, it took 4 weeks for the supporting frame to be made; and the result doesn't really knock me off my feet. To me it looks as if they tried, but didn't really get it right.

But on Wednesday I'm finally mobile again, after spending the last days rowing through the bay (which isn't exactly small) or employing a tow-service.
Remember, my outboard engine was stolen last week, and my new one is arriving today. I'm treating myself to 15hp and a larger dinghy. In those areas lying ahead of me tours with the dinghy will become increasingly longer and rougher.
And together they fit into the davits beautifully.

Also, I found a good place for the old dinghy; Frank picks it up proudly and especially Gerda will be pleased since she always got pretty wet in their old, rather small dinghy.
And on Saturday it's also time for me and Silver Blue to say good-bye. I meet a few other sailors in the bay-bar for a farewell drink. I'll meet a few of them again, on our way to the west, and I wish the others good luck and fair winds.

On Sunday morning Silver Blue will set out towards Tortuga, but more about that, next week, if you like …

… until then, all the best to you
