| After a great month in Europe - we enjoyed seeing our friends again
very much - we return to Panama on December 13. After an 18-hour-flight we arrive at Panama airport in the evening, and an hour later we're back at the Flamenco marina where we find SILVER BLUE in good order. |

First thing, after opening all hatchways to air the place out, is to have a cool beer at the bar, because it really is rather warm here. We'll have to spend a few more days with the ship on land. A few more instruments are being fitted into the hull and then we'll finally get back into the water. And they really know how to use a travel lift, these guys at the Flamenco marina. |
| In general, we did feel rather safe here. A special thanks to the helpful
employees. From our anchoring spot in front of the marina we've got an especially beautiful view of Panama Cities skyline and of a few friendly fishermen in the neighborhood whose boat is often used as a taxi by lots of pelicans. |

We're also spending the Christmas holidays here since we're expecting two guest sailors, Marina and Klaus, on my (Toms) birthday, December 27. For 10 days we'll be sailing through and exploring the fairly close by Islas Las Perlas. |
| At 8am we pick them up at the landing and after a short introduction we weigh anchor at 10am - and after a rather considerable time on land we set sail again! Of course the fishing line also has to go out and just a short while later my birthday present is hooked. It's a beautiful tuna fish, and in the evening it tastes really great to a bottle of champagne. | ![]() |

Sunday starts with a nice Sunday breakfast, an egg, fresh fruit salad, home made bread ... and Nela really seems to be enjoying it. |
| After that we leave the island Contadora, which owes its name to the fact that in the olden days the pearls used to be counted here. We slowly sail to the Isla Pedro Gonzales where we find a beautiful anchoring place, in the Don Bernado Bay, with a long beach enclosed by palm trees. A few cute, dark kids are playing there and we bring them some sweets. For thanks we get some huge smiles. | ![]() |
More about the Islas Las Perlas next week, if you like ...
Until then we wish all of you a happy new year!
Tom & Nela
